Montgomery
County has a strong and growing agricultural business
base. MCED has partnered with Montgomery County 4-H
to plan for the development of a premier conference
center and ag-complex on their new site at the intersection
of interstate 74 and US 231. The Montgomery County Higher
Education Steering Committee is currently conducting
a needs assessment for agri-business. Ivy Tech and Purdue
Extension office have teamed up to provide distance
AG- education training via Purdue a priority.

Our new ethanol
production facility will be a catalyst for vendor support
companies and research initiatives. We should be prepared
to
anticipate and take advantage of those opportunities
before they develop. Food Processing and other alternative
farming technologies
need to be identified.
Our
Workforce Development Committees, School to Career/
SkillsNet and Community Development will work with the
County Higher Education Steering Committee to develop
strategies and tactics that are in support of Agri-business.
