Montgomery County Economic Development is proud to introduce a comprehensive marketing plan to attract a world class workforce in support of our current and future industries and businesses. Retention of our current industries is the number one goal of MCED. Over 80% of our time and budget is used to support our current businesses. These committees are involved in infrastructure development projects and whole community economic growth. Current projects include the Nucor Road Industrial Corridor and assisting our two newest companies Vera Sun and DuBose Manufacturing with their (IDGF) infrastructure grants.

Infrastructure development for the “Nucor Road Industrial Corridor” is under way in cooperation with county officials and the Regional Sewer District Board. A series of meetings with town leaders will be key tactics to determine their needs, communicate our planning strategies and enhance county-wide communication and cooperation.

Awareness

An engaged community is essential to providing the amount and type of development the community desires. We are committed to an open planning process that engages as may citizens as possible. We will be as visible as possible with the MCED strategies and our full board is large to represent as large a part of the community as possible. Each year the Corporation reviews its strategic plan and develops new strategies or goals to accomplish the overall mission of enhancing the quality of life for all citizens of our community. As a not for profit corporation, the financial goals are directly related to the costs associated with operations.

The goal is to grow our economic base by supporting and promoting a healthy balance of manufacturing, agricultural, retail and service businesses along with public entities of all counties. At the same time it is imperative to practice good stewardship of our natural resources.

No one can predict with certainty what the community’s future requirements will be, but there are certain historical and future trends that can be used to develop expectations. This strategic plan will communicate those expectations and the tactics we will use to support and sustain the economic development of Montgomery County.
