Mission:

Montgomery County Economic Development (MCED)assists to promote and provide meaningful economic development opportunities for business and industry in the community.

Over 30 of our best companies partner with MCED on our “Bright Future” campaign to improve the quality of life in Montgomery County.

Our directors are a diverse cross section of 23 community volunteers who guide the organization with a progressive development strategy designed to support our existing companies, provide sites for new businesses, and develop our workforce.

The organization is divided into committees that focus on a particular part of our strategic plan. They include the Retention/Stabilization committee charged with providing support to our current employers and new company attraction. The Workforce Development Committee, ensuring that our employers have a talent pool ready to compete in the global economy, and a Community Development committee driving life quality initiatives.

MCED promotes our community as family friendly and supports managed growth that increases median income by prioritizing education and training.

Workforce Development:

SkillsNet: MCED provides Crawfordsville training facility for Purdue Leadership classes utilized by companies and community towards graduation credit. Important initiative to develop local leadership talent.
HoosierEmployer.com MCED website designed to support Project Bright Future and local employers to recruit a skilled workforce. Site visits climb to an average of 26,000 hits per month.
Purdue High Tech Job Fairs: MCED travels to regional job fairs to represent local companies and community for skilled workforce. Important awareness initiative, selling the value of our local companies to recent graduates.
School to Career Committee:The committee’s goal is to establish a manufacturing/business curriculum to be offered in the high school.Through this committee, MCED also initiated and funded the space for the SkillsNet training center, which later morphed into the Ivy Tech Community College site. MCED continues to be the major financial supporter of the College and the MCED executive director is on the Montgomery County Higher Education Steering Committee.

Community Development:

Old Culver Hospital Brownfield MCED secures remediation grant of $42,000 to assist developers in redeveloping the structure. Phase two to begin in the fall.

MIBOR Grant - MCED receives an $11,000 grant from MIBOR to provide a feasibility study for financing the sewer project for the Nucor Road Industrial Corridor.
